Liberty Defense strives to provide an enjoyable learning experience, a comfortable atmosphere where students are encouraged to engage in discussion and ask questions. Our class will include PowerPoint presentations, videos and demonstrations designed to familiarize you with all aspects involving handguns and Concealed Carry. We design our class to not only provide you with the course requirements as mandated by the State of North Carolina, but also to make sure you leave with a comfortable knowledge of the Laws and lifestyle of the Concealed Handgun Licensee.

At the end of this course the student will be able to perform the following:

• Explain the provisions under NC Common and Statutory law in which the use of deadly force would be justified.

• Identify the places handguns may not be carried even if the individual has a Conceald Carry Handgun Permit.

• Demonstrate proficiency in safe handling of the handgun to include loading, unloading, storing or securing, and firing the handgun.

• Identify the major parts of the revolver or semi-automatic pistol.

• Demonstrate proficiency in marksmanship fundamentals.

 

A certificate is issued at the completion of the course that may be accepted by any sheriff in NC when applying for a Concealed Carry Handgun (CCH) permit. The course includes 8 hours of classroom instruction and a shooting qualification exercise with targets placed at 3, 5, 7 and 10 yards from the shooter and requires 40 rounds of ammunition to complete. Individuals new to shooting should consider taking the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course before taking this course. Ownership of a handgun is recommended.

There is no live ammunition allowed in the classroom, please leave all firearms in your vehicle until instructed otherwise. Eye and ear protection is required for all range activities. Students are encouraged to bring the firearm that they intend to carry.
